Where is the Best Place to Keep a Cat Litter Box?
As a cat owner, providing a comfortable and convenient environment for your feline friend includes choosing the perfect location for their litter box. The proper placement ensures your cat’s privacy and comfort, encourages regular use and helps maintain a clean and odour-free home. So, where is the best place to keep a cat litter box?
- The first important rule when placing a litter box is not to put it near your cat’s food or water bowl. Cats are notoriously clean and don’t like eating problems near the toilet.
- The litter box should be placed in a quiet place to make the cat feel safer. Generally, an enclosed balcony or main bedroom bathroom is a good choice. Next to a noisy washing machine or a damp faucet are not ideal locations for a cat litter box.
- Cats like to go to the toilet privately, but owners cannot place the litter box entirely out of sight. You know, observing your cat’s defecation is also one of your compulsory courses because they can cause many cat diseases. Defecation behaviour is the first to be detected, so early detection allows for early treatment.
- Don’t move the cat litter box around. Once cats become familiar with the litter box’s location, they will get used to the route in and out. If you want to change the litter box’s location, you must familiarize your cat with the new litter box area and environment so they know where to go.
- placing a cat litter box on each floor is best if your home is a duplex. Especially for older cats, walking up and down stairs becomes more difficult than before. They will defecate directly on the floor if they can’t find a litter box quickly.
- If you have other pets at home, such as a naughty puppy, you must ensure the litter box is placed outside the dog’s reach. You can fence it in or use a covered cat litter box.
